As of the moment, we hear that two policemen have been shot in Dallas at a demonstration that springs from yet another shooting death. It's not even worth going into the details. Suffice to say that a black man was shot by police, a demonstration followed tonight, and now two police have been shot.
None of this makes any sense. Either the police shooting of the man was proper or it was not. If it was not proper, then the police involved should be punished by the law. None of this, however, means that other police who did nothing wrong should be shot.
We already had president Obama decide that he needed to weigh in on this issue from Poland where he is on yet another of his trips. It's amazing how quickly he jumps into this when you consider how slow he is to get involved in a terrorism case. Think how long it took Obama to comment on the Orlando terror attack. The reality is that no one needs to hear from Obama on this. Even more important, when he weighs in, he ought to be trying to put a lid on the violence rather than inciting more.
