I've seen two articles this morning about how the Democrats "embraced diversity" in yesterday's primaries. The focus is that the Dems nominated a transgender for governor in Vermont, a number of Moslems for offices in Minnesota and some gays in other places. That's all fine, but the strange thing to me is that the reports say nothing about the competence or the policies promoted by these candidates.
For example, Minnesota nominated its first Moslem/black candidate for Attorney General. That nominee is, of course, Keith Ellison who is also the vice chairman of the DNC. This is the same Keith Ellison, however, who is facing charges of abusing two different women. The charges seem to have had no impact at all on his victory. That is because most of the voters probably haven't even heard about them. Then there is also the problem that Ellison has been a supporter of Louis Farrakhan and his Nation of Islam. Again, most of the voters probably haven't heard about this. but in the fall, will that still be the same? Will the average voter in Minnesota be okay with the chief of law enforcement in that state having a record like that?
It is Minnesota, so one cannot be sure, but I really believe that there will be a high number of people who will be turned off by Ellison's positions and past. I guess they just won't "embrace diversity". At least I hope that they won't.
