The senate has stayed in session this month rather than going on their usual six week vacation. During these days, some appropriations were passed, but mostly the senate focused on confirming nominees whose appointments had been delayed for months by the Democrats. The Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell was threatening to keep the senate in session right through Friday and resume on Tuesday. That would mean that the senators would have to miss most of their Labor Day Weekend holiday. It was too much for the Democrats. They finally threw in the towel. Late this afternoon, the Dems agreed to "fast track" 15 nominations -- including those of 11 judges -- in exchange for a longer adjournment for Labor Day. As the Senate's Democrat leader Chuck Schumer said to his fellow Democrats this afternoon (according to unnamed sources), "Nominees come and go, but vacations are too important to miss."
I just wonder what the anti-Trump crazies of the #Resistance are going to think when they hear that the Dem senators sold them out for more time on the beach.
