John McCain

Senator McCain died yesterday of brain cancer.  We knew it was coming; his family announced the day before that he had stopped treatment, usually a sign of the end.  McCain was someone with whom I often disagreed.  Nevertheless, he was a man who deserves the honor and respect of his country.  No one could question his devotion to America and to his duty as he saw it.  This is a time to remember him for a life well spent and to send our thoughts and prayers to his family.

It bothers me how there are some who can't seem to get past the political at this moment.  This morning, I began my day by seeing an article from Yahoo News that was focused on the poor relationship between President Trump and senator McCain.  Really?  McCain passes away and Yahoo News sees it as an opportunity to attack Trump?  Why?  Can't the mainstream media just show respect for McCain on the event of his death.

There's no monopoly for bad behavior in this regard by the left.  On Twitter, there were those who said that they were glad McCain was gone.  I find that abhorrent.  It was a small group, but many were supposedly from the right.  I do wonder, though, if that is true.  After all, this sounds like the perfect way for the Russian bots the left keeps talking about to sow discord in the USA.
