It's way early to tell, but it does seem as if the Chinese are in the process of waiving a white flag in the trade war with the USA. The media won't acknowledge that because it would mean a victory for President Trump. Still, the idea that the Chinese are coming to Washington to renew discussions about resolving trade disputes is a harbinger of better things to come. Remember, not long ago, Beijing was telling us that it would no longer be discussing trade matters unless America relented with regard to the tariffs it had imposed on Chinese goods. Trump's response was to talk about additional tariffs.
There's a long way to go to come to a final outcome of this confrontation on trade with the Chinese. As a result, any conclusions about the outcome are surely premature at this point. Still, China has much more to lose from this confrontation that the USA has to lose. It's a simple point that President Trump clearly grasps. It may be galling to the self-proclaimed "experts" that Trump could be correct while they are all wrong. Nevertheless, it is looking more and more like that is the case.
