Today's Narrative In The Mainstream Media

It's a slow news day; nothing much is happening.  So what is the mainstream media covering?  The answer is that the story of the day is what they call President Trump's encouragement of racism.  It's a phony story, but one that they keep pushing.  Just now, on my car radio CBS News reported that a year after Charlottesville, Trump is still racially dividing the nation.  They did this by putting senator Tim Kaine on with a lengthy quote about how terrible it is that Trump is doing that.  They gave no examples, just made the assertion.  When I turned on my computer and looked at my Yahoo News feed, the main headline was an AP article from Julie Pace about the same subject.  Since this was a complete article, I thought I would check to see what the AP considers racist commentary.  The only thing that the AP mentions in this regard, however, is the President's opposition to the protests by NFL players during the playing of the National Anthem.   Really!  The President says players should show respect for the nation and the flag and the AP says that's "racist".  What a joke!  It's like the days during Obama's presidency when any opposition to Obama was described as racist.

I decided to look further.  I just watched CNN's version of this story.  It's Anderson Cooper telling the nation that President Trump's actions and words divide the country racially.  I watched a nearly three minute video waiting for the examples of what Trump is supposedly still doing to divide Americans by race.  That never came.

So here's the summary.  A year ago, Nazis, white supremacists and some others held a protest in Charlottesville.  There was a counter demonstration which included Antifa.  A nut job used his car to run down a woman who was a counter demonstrator.  It was awful.  The guy was arrested.  President Trump's initial reaction was poorly worded.  He said that he thought there were good people on both sides.  Remember, not every counter-protester was an Antifa thug and not every protester was a Nazi jerk or a white supremacist.  The media went crazy and Washington politicians panicked.  That was it; Trump was endorsing racism.  Within hours, Trump corrected his statement to condemn racism, but it didn't matter.  The meme had been settled.  Now a year later, nothing more has been added.  Surely, it cannot be that criticizing football players for disrespecting the national anthem is "racist".  Other than that, the media offers no further proof.  Again, for the media, it doesn't matter.  They are going to tell America that Trump is a divisive racist.  Except for the American people, the proof should matter.  Trump is not a racist.  Certainly, his rhetoric is not racist.  The only ones dividing Americans work for the media or are Democrats spreading false stories.
