Mission Creep or Creepy Mission?

I find it amazing that there are so many on the left who are expressing worry that president Obama is succumbing to mission creep in Iraq.  They point out that when Obama sent 300 troops into Iraq after ISIS first attacked, they were supposed to only defend the US embassy and help gather intelligence (but only from the embassy or a consulate.)  Now, the US air force is dropping supplies and attacking ISIS.

This position really is not about mission creep.  It is rather about the creepy mission of the leftwing of the Democrats, namely to avoid American involvement in war even if it means sacrificing our allies and innocent civilians to terrible fates.

Just think about the position that these people are taking.  There are forty thousand or more innocent civilians who were being starved to death by an ISIS siege on a mountain in northern Iraq.  If the USA had done nothing, all of these people would have died in the next few days.  There are millions of Kurds in northeast Iraq who have been allies of the USA for at least a decade.  They too are under assault from ISIS and could easily face the same fate as the Yazidi and Christian refugees on that mountain.  So the left wants to let the Kurds be overrun and slaughtered?

Look, no one in the USA actually wants war.  And there is no question that the president needs to have clear goals and a strategy to achieve those ends (something that Obama has proven quite inept at doing.)  But there is such a thing as a just war.  When the enemy is a group of terrorist crazies whose goal is death for millions, it is a moral imperative to oppose them.
